Ever wonder why your grass looks greener after a big rain storm?
Well your eyes are not lying, the grass does green up after a storm. A rain storm provides more water than normal for the soil of the plants. When plants take in the water, they are receiving nitrogen. When a plant (or grass in this case) is planted root start to establish and over time other roots start to form, then making the old ones die and decay. When those new roots develop and take in that provided rain new nitrogen is released back into the soil. That then starts to flush out old decayed roots allowing the grass (new roots) to be very active. This activity pumps up the photosynthesis, which then makes the grass greener. Cool huh?!
